Tour description

The private day trip Napoleon Road, Fortress Sisteron and Alpine Chamonix (9h) is a great solution to make your connection between the French Riviera and Chamonix in the Northern Alps. It is a one way transfer via la Route Napoléon, one of the most scenic roads in the region (maybe even in France). For those who plan to visit both the French Riviera and Chamonix, this private day trip can replace the traditional trip by train or plane (which may last a couple of hours more in total as we transport you door-to-door).

La Route Napoléon was the road took by Napoleon in 1815 on his return from Elba. It starts in Golfe-Juan, where Napoléon disembarked 1 March 1815, beginning the Hundred Days that ended at Waterloo. The road was inaugurated in 1932 and meanders from the French Riviera north-northwest along the foothills of the Alps. If you wish to learn more about la Route Napoléon, please visit the Napoléon Foundation

Somewhere, somewhere, ..., there are beautiful lavender fields which look just like one of the Province postcards. It's hidden from the touristic itineraries and we know where they are! Don't miss this opportunity of discovering them if you travel from mid-June to mid-July.

Sisteron is sometimes called the "Gateway to Provence" because it is in a narrow gap between two long mountain ridges. This is why the place was chosen to built an impressive fort and has for many centuries been subject to military battles. The fort features some great architectural designs. To not miss! It is definitely off the beaten track attraction!

Discover Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, one of the most famous ski and alpinist centre in the World, home of the first Winter Olympic Games in 1924. Discover the Aiguille du Midi pic (by the cable car) from where you'll admire the Mont-Blanc summit and a 360 degree view of the French, Italian and Swiss Alps. It's breathtaking, no, it is really really breathtaking. Take the mountain train to the Mer de Glace, the glacier. (The cable car to Aiguille du Midi and the train to la Mer de Glace are our suggestions for visiting and not included in the price of this tour).

If you plan to visit the French Riviera and Chamonix during your holidays, then this private day trip offers you a great solution for not waisting your day for a trip by plane or train, because instead you can discover one of the most scenic roads of France and its stunning landscapes. You will also discover the traditional French countryside.
